Pahrump Regional Planning Commission

The Pahrump Regional Planning Commission was created to carry out the provisions of NRS 278.10 through 278.630, inclusive, and to act on planning-related issues with the specific authority established by the Board of County Commissioners in Section 16.24.030.c.

Applications will not be placed on a meeting agenda until they are deemed complete by staff and have had their application fees paid in full. Applications must be submitted via the online portal per the Application Submittal section of the Planning Department. 

Nye County Planning Department offers a Pre-Application and Pre-Development Process:

Pre-application meetings are required prior to submitting an application. This applies to applications for the Pahrump Regional Planning Commission (PRPC), the Nye County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC), as well as the departmental Site Plan Development Review Process.

Pre-development meetings are required prior to submitting a Site Development application and are designed to provide early feedback to applicants from Planning, Building, Public Works, Fire, and Sheriff's Departments on their projects before entering the formal application process. The first meeting is at no cost to applicants and helps to eliminate potential issues before paying the required fees to commence through the formal Development Review Process. Any additional meetings are $100.00 due at the time of scheduling.

Public Hearing Notices

Public hearing notices are sent to property owners within 300 feet of an application, by NRS and Nye County code, to make citizens aware of a proposed application in their neighborhood and the opportunity to voice their opinions. The public hearing notices are white postcards that include the following:

  • Application number(s)
  • Applicant name
  • Description
  • Location map
  • Date, time, and location of the public hearing
  • Planning Staff contact number

Items are also printed in the Pahrump Valley Times 10 days prior to the meeting. 

Physically attending a public hearing is the most effective way to voice your support or opposition; however, attendance is not required. Written comments may be addressed to:

Please place the application number[s] indicated on any Notice in any correspondence. Written comments must be received by the Tuesday (1 week) before the meeting to be included in the Planning Department staff report supplied to the Planning Commission; however, any comments received after that day will still be provided to the Planning Commission as long as they are received by the Planning Department by 9 a.m. Tuesday prior to the meeting. Any written materials supplied after the 9 a.m. Tuesday deadline will be subject to approval at the meeting (20 copies of the materials must be provided by the individual).

Do not submit materials to staff after the deadline date.
