[ARCHIVED] Petition requirements outlined

With election season approaching, Nye County would like to remind people who would like to gather signatures outside county facilities for petitions are required to receive permission from County Administration.

Pursuant to NRS 293.127565 signatures may be gathered at government buildings in a designated area during regular business hours. Before you may begin to collect signatures, you must notify a public officer or employee in control of the building of the dates and times you intend to use the designated area.

Notification can be given by completing the form and submitting to either County Administration office in Pahrump or Tonopah, or emailing to nyeadmin@co.nye.nv.us; or faxing to (775) 751-7093.

Important dates for the upcoming election season:

March 2 – 13, 2020, Weekdays, 8 am-5 pm: Candidate Filing (Non-Judicial) - Period during which non-judicial candidates may file to run for office in 2020.

March 24, 2020, 5 pm: Last Day to Withdraw Candidacy (Non-Judicial)

May 12, 2020: Voter Registration Deadline - Last day to register, update registration, or change party affiliation for the Primary Election by mail or by appearing in person at the Nye County Clerk’s Offices.

May 13 – June 4, 2020: Online Voter Registration - Voters may register, update registration or change party affiliation for the Primary Election on the Secretary of State’s Internet Site. Voters will not receive a sample ballot if registered after May 19.

May 23 – June 5 and June 9, 2020: Same Day Registration During Early Voting Hours and on Election Day

May 23 – June 5, 2020: Early Voting –Tonopah and Pahrump 

May 26, 2020, 5 pm: Absentee Ballot Request Deadline - Last day for the Nye County Clerk to receive written requests for the Primary Election.

PRIMARY ELECTION -  June 9, 2020 Vote 7 am to 7 pm
