[ARCHIVED] Government offices closed Friday for Nevada Day

All Nye County and town offices, as well as the courts, will be closed Friday, October 25th in observance of the state public holiday, Nevada Day.

The day celebrates the state's admission to the United States on October 31, 1864. However, the holiday is celebrated statewide on the last Friday of the month.

The county and town government offices will reopen on Monday morning, October 28th.

Nye County was one of the original counties that were part of the territory when Nevada became a state. County namesake James W. Nye, who was the territorial governor, was one of the state's first U.S. Senators.
