Pahrump resident Gregory T. Hafen II has been appointed to fill the vacant state Assembly District 36 seat.
Hafen was the choice of Nye, Clark, and Lincoln counties at separate meetings this week. The district covers portions of each of those counties.
A joint meeting of the three Boards of County Commissioners was held in Pahrump on Friday, December 7 to make the final appointment of Hafen, who was selected from 19 Republicans who live within the district who applied for the position. The seat was declared vacant after the late Dennis Hof won the General Election on November 6.
Hafen will serve until the election in November 2020, when voters will select their representative.
Hafen is the general manager of the Pahrump Utility Company Inc., and is chairman of the Pahrump Regional Planning Commission and Pahrump Capital Improvement Advisory Committee.
He also has a bachelor's degree in Business Management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Hafen was issued the Oath of Office by Nye County Clerk Sam Merlino following the meeting. Hafen will serve the full two-year term.
