[ARCHIVED] Notice of Public Meeting - Nevada State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program


Nye County will be considering projects for the 2012/2013 Nevada State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. The public is invited to participate by providing ideas, comments and suggestions concerning potential projects. The meeting will be held in conjunction with the regularly scheduled Board of County Commissioners meeting on:

November 20, 2012 @ 10:45 a.m.
101 Radar Rd, Tonopah NV 89049 or
2100 E. Walt Williams Drive, Pahrump NV 89048

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has made approximately $2.6 million available for grants for community facilities, planning and capacity building, economic development, micro-enterprise programs, and housing rehabilitation. These grants are available on a competitive basis to Nevada’s 26 non-entitlement cities and counties. Nye County is eligible to apply for projects located in unincorporated areas of the county. Program funds must be spent on projects which primarily serve low and moderate income persons. Seventy percent of the projects funded must benefit communities and neighborhoods where at least 51% of the residents have annual household incomes of 80% or less of the median income for their respective counties.

Items to be discussed at the meeting include:
1. Overview of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program
2. Review of past performance and status of existing grants
3. Review of Housing and Community development needs statement
4. Review of preliminary grant application projects and selection process
