[ARCHIVED] Notice of Vacancy: CSBG Tripartite Board




Information:  Nye County Health and Human Services acts as a Community Action Agency as designated by the State Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and as such has pledged to address the needs of low-income and at-risk families and individuals and to work to alleviate the conditions and causes of poverty in Nye County.  Nye County Health and Human Services receives federal Community Services Block Grant funding from DHHS to assist families in poverty and partner with other organizations in the community on strategies to reduce poverty.  One of the requirements is the formation of an advisory board (Tripartite Board) to provide input on the agency's efforts to reduce poverty at both the family and community levels.  

 This Board meets quarterly by teleconference (Note:  there might be additional meetings occasionally) and consists of the following:   One-third of the membership must be low-income persons below CSBG income guidelines who reside in the agency's service area (Nye County) or must be a representative of low-income individuals, such as an employee of other human service organizations.  One-third must be local elected officials, or their designated representatives and one-third are those community-minded individuals who are from major groups and interests in the Community such as representatives from community organizations, clergy, etc.

There is one (1) seat vacant on the CSBG Tripartite Board for an elected official.  The term of office will run from date of appointment to expiration of current terms; which is December 31, 2023. Nye County Health and Human Services is requesting the attached CSBG Tripartite Board Member Application be submitted from Nye County citizens who may be interested in filling this vacancy.

 The Community Service Block Grant Tripartite Board will select the individual who best meets the requirements of the position and who is able to bring knowledge and sound judgment to the deliberations of the Board.
