Marriages & Weddings

It is required that prior to performing a marriage ceremony in Nevada, a lawful marriage license must be obtained. For more information on how to obtain a marriage license locally, you may contact the Nye County Clerk’s Office at 775-482-8127 or click here for the Clerks website.

Pursuant to Nevada Law, the cost of a marriage performed by the Justice of the Peace is $75 (cash only) and must be paid at the time of the ceremony. It is also required by Nevada law that a witness be present.  If you don’t have a witness, please advise the court so that we can make arrangements to provide one for you.

The Judge is available to perform marriages during business hours Monday-Friday, court calendar permitting.  The Judge also performs marriage ceremonies after hours however they must be prescheduled and may incur an additional fee for mileage.  All marriage ceremonies are conducted at the discretion of the Judge.

After the ceremony, the marriage certificate will be forwarded to the Recorder from County in which the marriage license was obtained.  Once recorded, it will be mailed to the couple at the address listed on the marriage license.  If you have not received the recorded (legal) copy of your marriage certificate, please contact the County Recorder, not the Court.  Locally, the Nye County Recorder can be reached at 775-482-8116.
